Abilities given to militia not showing up

Given some custom unit abilities to a footman and a militia, the footman's show up but the militia's don't. The icon positions are set out fine, so any idea?

hmm still can't work this out. I know I can easily use another unit and change model but I'm curious why it doesn't work for the milita.

What is the name of the ability are you are using.

And is your militia transformed from a peasant?

I'm just using militia from the tool palette- I can give him any ability he doesn't have it. Additionally, I notice if I change the unit which a peasant morphs into, the morphed unit also has no abilities. So, the reason is because of the morph, and the militia being a morphed unit.
