create dummy question

sorry im a total noob
can someone spell out how to create a dummy (so that it may cast a aoe spell)

would it be just:
take a footman
make it useless (take away attack and such)
have it know the spell you want it to cast
then create it and have it cast spell in a trigger

Basically. Add the ability locust aswell and make it have no model file so that players can't see it.


Don't forget to use

Trigger:
  • unit - add generic timer to (last created unit) that lasts for X seconds


so that you can remove it once you're done.

take a footman, remove every attack, add locust ability, set movement type to fly or collision to 0
Set Temploc = Target point of ability being cast
Create 1 Dummy at Temploc facing default building facing degrees
Add (ability) to last created unit
Order unit to cast
add 0.50 expiration timer

1. i would base it on a wisp to save time cuz he is missing basic attack and cast spells faster than a footman
2. change out move type to flying, set movement speed to 0
3. set model as .mdl or .mdx
4. add locust to the dummy (will make it unselectable and invurnible, although removing the model will make it unselectable too)
5. alternative, add a mana pool

Just wonder. Why make it flying? To make it unkillable? Then just set abilities for your dummy to Invulnerable and Locust(Neutral Hositle)

For the 5th: just make the dummy ability to have mana cost. :p

well i had some problems with spawning the dummy at unwalkable terrain withoput having it to flying... so after thati have always used flying as movement type.
