If your system has been acting up recently, the latest update might be the reason why.

Microsoft released a cumulative update for Windows 11 last week, and it has been giving some users massive headaches. In addition to throwing out blue screens of death willy-nilly, some people are reporting sluggish performance, audio glitches, and even a failure to boot in some cases. These issues might all be related to this most recent patch from Microsoft, and unfortunately, the only workaround currently is to roll back your machine.

The update that might be causing this litany of issues is KB5035853, so you'll need to check your Windows update history to see if your machine was "upgraded." Windows Latest says it's been affected by this update with a machine showing a BSOD on boot. When it asked readers if they were having problems, it received a deluge of complaints about sluggish performance and oddities they hadn't seen before. After installing the update, the Windows site author said they received a “Thread Stuck in Device Driver" blue screen error on boot. Other users are also reporting BSODs, and Lenovo laptops with BitLocker enabled are also apparently affected, as they can descend into a boot-loop spiral of death.
