Here is the thread I am referring to.
Well, as you may have guessed, this thread is getting a bit out-of-date. Some links don't work, programs that you said in the post were free, aren't so free anymore, and even programs are no longer available or not in beta anymore.
So, I would suggest adding, updating, and removing some links in the thread.
For under "Computer Security and Misc Tools", I would suggest the McAfee Site Advisor. It is a nice little program that shows whether the site is trusted or not. It's not in the way at all, and has a nice little bubble to see the comments and test results and such. I would suggest, it, perhaps you should try it out yourself!
Well, I don't have the knowledge, nor the time to say more, but perhaps spend a bit of time updating the thread.
