could anyone enlighten me as to what i need to install before using pygame?

im under the impression that i need python, wxpython and pygame...

additionally, which version of each of those programs should i install?
does it matter that i am using a 64bit laptop?
should i get 32bit python to go with the 32 bit pygame?
or can i get 64bit python and it still be compatible with pygame?

You don't need wxpython. Also pygame comes builtin, at least for me on Ubuntu. If it isn't already installed, get 1.9.1.

1.9.1...

# pygame-1.9.1release.win32-py2.4.exe 3MB
# pygame-1.9.1release.win32-py2.5.exe 3MB
# pygame-1.9.1.win32-py2.5.msi 3MB (python2.5.4 is the best python on windows at the moment)
# pygame-1.9.1.win32-py2.6.msi 3MB
# pygame-1.9.1.win32-py3.1.msi 3MB

which one?
obviously i have to pick a version of python first, then choose a version of pygame that is compatible.
but im not sure what version of python to pick

windows 7,
i ended up installing the 32 bit version of python 2.6.4 and pygame 1.9.1
since there was no 64 bit version of pygame.
everything seems to work fine.
