Why aren't we allowed to delete our own posts?

I accidentally double posted, and...I wanted to delete it to save myself from the embarressing mistake, and couldn't

It's primarily to prevent people from deleting good content that they may have made in the past if they ever decide to leave or get mad at the site or something. We like having content.

If you have something like a double post, just report it and a staff member will be along to take care of it.

Also some people, believe it or not, would go back and delete all their newby posts when they become "Pro" mappers. That would make the forums very disorganized.

The only thing special members get are custom titles, they don't get any post-deleting privileges.

This has been brought up before and unanimously turned out, sorry but it's the same this time around.

Actually, when I look at the permissions, it seems that Special Members can delete their own posts, but not threads. Though I suppose that since such deleting is only a soft delete, there is some protection there....
