Reasonable filesize

Hey just wondering a couple things, whats a good filesize for a map, and secondly how can i reduce filesize, what are some great methods?

but i believe once you optimize you can no longer edit it
so make a copy then optimize the copy

What exactly does it do and by how much, my theory was that it removed everything in the map your map doesn't use, is this correct?

Indeed, and other minor things like making the minimap a little blurrier, etc

I can't really tell you about a reasonable file size, because there isn't.

The max file size is 4 MB, but most likely maps above 2.5 will end up like dota: host kicking slow downloaders (or even all downloaders) and telling them to go download it somewhere else (like a website, namely epicwar, hiveworkshop, or even TH.net.... or your own website)

If my map was 2.4 and i used vexorans what would it end up on. 2000kb worth of models btw.
Also, whats a good filesize for people to download without leaving.

Have you tried the MDX squisher from WC3C? I hear that works wonders.

I think all files are good enough. I don't care much because I have myself 100 mb campaign...

The squisher makes numbers like 4.8235623 more like 4.823 This reduces unneccesary numbers by rounding them down. It results in no quality lose (Well, viewable quality loss)
