Philly Cheese Meatloaf

This recipe is a delicious Philly Cheese twist on a classic meatloaf.

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Adobo (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Large bowl for mixing
  • Small bowl for mixing
  • Loaf pan for baking
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175C)
  • In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, adobo, salt, and pepper until well combined
  • Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan
  • Lay the provolone cheese slices over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges
  • Cover with the remaining meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal
  • In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard
  • Pour this sauce over the meatloaf
  • Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through
  • Let meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing
