Very little consideration has gone into the texture of the ground in coordination with doodads. Not many sensical ramps (if i saw some at all  ) Use a large variety of doodads, and cliffs were a little speratic... just sorta all of a sudden incredibably steep.

Flaten out areas of rock and tile, round up parts of grass and dirt. Fit smaller trees on outside edges, large ones like canopy trees towards the middle.

Smooth out some platforms too and add a couple plateuas near waters edge usually looks good, and is (cheesy) but effective to have a hero or something standing at the edge of in a cinematic.

For making a cinematic, a lot of it looked too cluttered and unnatural or with little order, double clicking ona doodad does let you choose its degree rotation... useful for staged terrain/doodads.

Customize doodads too, say to create one fair sized ship thats dead instead of a whole bunch on one pinacle/island.

I would rate this 3, it isn't good that I would want to use it myself, but it isn't bad that I would completely dismiss it as any faint view of terrain.

Good job, keep up the work, learn from your mistakes :D

From what I can tell by those dreary quality images, I'd say some areas are a bit too cluttered. Jungles = more than just trees and rubble...the shipwreck area seems cluttered the most, and of course, the bad screenie quality makes it eyecatching. Still, not too bad.

As seen below, even I am not what you may call a terraining God...but I'm aware (at least in my opinion) on how to have a variety of doodads. You can't just spam tree walls with the circle tool and then raise the land while randomly clicking in a couple of ruins bricks.

well the mountains with the trees looks nice but the only down side id have to say are them water falls, theyre just... wow... seems like to many or somthing and to plain (maybe throw a few rocks or somthing into the fray of waterfalls, and the first one was kinda weird and all with the big center of death and destruction with like 8 or so fhips all crammed together, and lightning and shit, i dunno just didnt seem right to me...

hey, i made a sunken ruins terrain map. tryed to make it a cinimatic, but messed that up big time. the terrain is still fine tho, take a look, rate me. sry i couldnt get a better res.

If you cant tell this reply is for the first post (I dont pay attention to Warcraft Talk lol...) Quick link to post 1

Okay, for the first one (Open up the first pic in a different window then read on...) notice all the lightning, What in the HELL is that there for? It makes absolutely no sense unless its a spell of some sort. Also, there are about 50 different ships cluttered on one tiny island, and they are all on fire (In the water...). Thirdly, look at the waterfalls. They sprout from 3 or 4 waterfalls, but the amount of water triples halfway down... how would that work? The water is also coming from ABOVE the lakes water level. The vines inside the waterfalls do NOT look right whatsoever, and there are several terrain glitches on the cliffs (Little black areas)

Now the second one. This one looks alot better, but still it can be improved. There are still terrain glitches on the cliffs, some make black areas some merge vertical with diagonal clifftypes and they do not actually merge at all  . You abused the noise tool in the tree area, and overall this area looks non-realistic.

Third image. Excluding the 1 and 2 areas, the mountain in the center is dull. Its just a raised hill with randomly scattered trees on it which point to little effort. To the bottom left there are several coral rocks, on shore.. they as well are randomly scattered with little effort blah blah blah. Another nonrealistic part. Whats with the 3 or 4 magical fountains on the top of the waterfall (Top right area)?!

Fourth image. This highly glorifies the terrible waterfalls, they are starting at above the waterline (Which in fact is being held in by the cliff!). Once again you massed ships and boxes on a small island which once again makes no sense.. If a ship wrecked on an island (On top of a mountain...) why would the boxes scatter across the island? There are to many lightning effects!! REMOVE THE LIGHTNING EFFECTS!!

Fifth image. That gate holding the water in is cool... just dont break it open :p. All the terrain height makes to many shadows, other than that its all repeats of above.

Overall rating ~ 1/5... Why? Inaccesibility, unrealistic effects, unrealistic environment, terrain glitches, massing effects... I gave the rating "Bad". People need to look beyond the point of "OHH SHINY THINGS ADD MORE" and think about what it would look like in real life, there would be no lightning effects... what the hell.....

Now for This post

First image. Well, these are much smaller and therefore harder to rate. For the first one though, its clear to ask, how would ships ever get into the rocks in the first place? It looks nicer than massive crates and row boats... but can be improved.

Second image. This was taken at a TERRIBLE angle! From what I can see, the only thing wrong is you put seaweed in a freshwater stream... if its salt water that brush on the tiny-island towards the top would have difficulty surviving.

Third image. This was also at a bad angle, I suggest you make water darker as the ripples on the side overwhelm the water mass.

Overall Rating - 3/5... It would probrably be lower, but I couldnt see the rest. If photography was part of the rating it would be 1/5... never touch a camera

Yes, as with almost any animated doodad if you have enough. Rad - ignore the bad camera angles, I'm not a photographer. Anyway, the final picture has this sort of lowered land in which you can see a small buildup of rocks, rubble, etc due to the faint current. However, due to the evil camera limitations, I couldn't think of a proper way to get it done. As for the shipwreck, I would say that debris has somehow drifted in over time...may just be me, but also ships being lodged into higher land makes more sense than just piling up in shallow water (unless the ships in pyro's images were huge and thusly could not get above the cliff). However, the coral there makes some sense, though yes, the mass fire and lightning is just weird.

Hmm, and I always thought that a ship would sink if it was sunk? Anyways heres a screenshot of a little snippet of forest area...theres no water sorry but its a mini-battlefield, sort of like pokemon where you engage in a battle, cept its a little area of land u fight in.

BTW I love what saving as GIF does to images... it makes em look all... sticky... <3

Here is my rating, i think its 3/5

the terrain in gerneral is clumped. Its really filled up, looks like God throw the extra trees and clifs in one pile,

But besides that, its not to bad, the forest, or what i can see itsent to bad, i like it. One thing you should have changed is the clif tileset. The one you mainly use doest look like a mountian, or natural. Also change the background, that will make the terrain feel more real.

But overall, i liked it! Good job, keep it up.

Remember kids -- don't commit the "nothing for miles" crime! Look at the first pic -- looks good at near but seems nothingness for miles.
