What if? (Politics)

Here's a little something that I found really interesting. As much, I hope you all do too. I'd like to remind everyone that this is Political.

What if we wake up one day and realize that the terrorist threat is a predictable consequence of our meddling in the affairs of others?

What if propping up repressive regimes in the Middle East endangers both the United States and Israel?

What if occupying countries like Iraq and Afghanistan – and bombing Pakistan – is directly related to the hatred directed toward us and has nothing to do with being free and prosperous?

What if someday it dawns on us that losing over 5,000 American military personnel in the Middle East since 9/11 is not a fair trade-off for the loss of nearly 3,000 American citizens, no matter how many Iraqi, Pakistani, and Afghan people are killed or displaced?

What if we finally decide that torture, even if called “enhanced interrogation techniques,” is self-destructive and produces no useful information – and that contracting it out to a third world nation is just as evil?

What if it is finally realized that war and military spending is always destructive to the economy?

What if all wartime spending is paid for through the deceitful and evil process of inflating and borrowing?

What if we finally see that wartime conditions always undermine personal liberty?

What if conservatives, who preach small government, wake up and realize that our interventionist foreign policy provides the greatest incentive to expand the government?

What if conservatives understood once again that their only logical position is to reject military intervention and managing an empire throughout the world?

What if the American people woke up and understood that the official reasons for going to war are almost always based on lies and promoted by war propaganda in order to serve special interests?

What if we as a nation came to realize that the quest for empire eventually destroys all great nations?

What if Obama has no intention of leaving Iraq?

What if a military draft is being planned for the wars that will spread if our foreign policy is not changed?

What if the American people learn the truth: that our foreign policy has nothing to do with national security and that it never changes from one administration to the next?

What if war and preparation for war is a racket serving the special interests?

What if President Obama is completely wrong about Afghanistan and it turns out worse than Iraq and Vietnam put together?

What if Christianity actually teaches peace and not preventive wars of aggression?

What if diplomacy is found to be superior to bombs and bribes in protecting America?

What happens if my concerns are completely unfounded – nothing!

What happens if my concerns are justified and ignored – nothing good!

All questions come from Dr. Ron Paul.
*Cough* Asked in question form because it makes people think. *Cough*

Can you write a top a list of your top three. Some of these questions only seem difficult if you don't really understand the situation. On the other hand, some are a bit more difficult. Put top three and I'll put answers.

I'd say have at it and answer all of them that you can, New_U.S.
All I can say is that I'm awake, but are you? ;)

Noam Chomsky is an inspiration as well.
Which his wisdom is spoken in this video I posted a while ago.

ron paul is probably the very man my school describes as a true conservative, i would ask for nothing more then to have him as President.

He seems to be the polar opposite of some liberals, in my opinion, it has become too hard to discern conservative from liberal nowadays

I get it, this is another Ron Paul fan page. And yes, Ron Paul is probably one of the few people in the government who puts his real job in front of politics. Will he ever make it to President? Probably not. Three random questions (all in a row).

What if the American people woke up and understood that the official reasons for going to war are almost always based on lies and promoted by war propaganda in order to serve special interests?

Usually not too difficult to understand why we are going to war (although we are rarely told the full reason). Iraq was Iraq- we don't need to debate that one. However Afghanistan is easy to look at. Initial invasion was to attack Al quida, as a response to 911. We weren't about to look weak. I've read a book written by a Marine officer at the time of that, and he basically said that as soon as he saw the news, he knew there was going to be war. Current situation: Al quida is pretty well cleared out. Now its clearing out the Taliban. At the same time, Afghanistan is the world's leading producer of heroin, so you can probably guess they we have some extra interest in the country ;).

What if we as a nation came to realize that the quest for empire eventually destroys all great nations?
I don't believe we are trying to empire militarily. The U.S. doesn't have the nationalist support. You can also tell by the wars fought by the U.S., that the U.S. only sends in boots for resources (namely oil). Once we are off oil, suddenly the Middle East won't matter too much. The U.S. could be an economic empire. However, sooner or later, the U.S. will not be a superpower anymore. However it will probably be a slow fall from grace (like the British Empire), rather then a collapse like the Soviet Union.

What if Obama has no intention of leaving Iraq?
The Iraq War is pretty much done.

I do have one question of my own however......
What do you do when Congress becomes so polarized that people act like a super majority is the only way to get things done?
