Who Are You?

Introduction
The Helper has been around for years now, and so has the community. This thread is for the community to read, regardless if the player is new or old. Compare the generations of members and learn everyone's experience of the website and what has been given to them, the good and the bad. Everyone's opinion on this website has changed in the past few years, especially those who have became significantly older.

Getting Started
The Members, begin explaining who you are. Who are you? What is your name? How old are you? When did you join The Helper? How did The Helper benefit you? Even if you have no recollection, you can simply talk about how the website could have changed your perspective on life based on your interactions with other people in the world. Talk about how you have changed since you first joined. Just say anything you find related to who you are in The Helper.

About Me
Hello, my name is Blackveiled. I am 20 years old, born on January 19th, 1993. I first joined The Helper on September 17th, 2005 searching for a website for support on the Warcraft 3 World Editor. Although, I was never a great mapper one thing that always kept me coming back to The Helper was because even though I was not an amazing mapper the community would constantly respond to my project, share their feedback, help with support issues, such as triggers. They would also help me test my projects online and let me know when they have encountered bugs. The Helper has also helped me mature a lot in the aspect of completing my projects that I started. I have always had ideas that I would love to create on the World Editor, and people always had positive feedback but I would never take the initiative into working on one project, and The Helper has helped me with that. I became sick of disappointing people who positively affected the project and never putting out a single bit of content for them to play.

Here are some funny threads that I created in the past to reflect on:
http://www.thehelper.net/threads/runescape-open-rpg.20136/
http://www.thehelper.net/threads/stealth-fighters-alpha-3.16551/ (second oldest thread I created)
http://www.thehelper.net/threads/quick-question.17668/ (Silly nooby me, I feel so dumb now)
http://www.thehelper.net/threads/alien-infestation.49882/ (This project was one I worked hard on back then, but there was a better version that isnt here)

I learned a lot about getting into programming through The Helper, although indirectly. I was a developer on The Helper staff member's private World of Warcraft server for a short bit before it closed, and was a gamemaster almost the entire time being on it. Although he did not know prior to promoting me to Gamemaster, he had no clue I was also another member on TheHelper and we decided to keep the server a secret from the website. Right now though, I could honestly care less if anyone knew that he ran a server. He had also been a fairly friendly member on The Helper and helped out a lot in the world editor section. I am also friends with some people whom I met online on this website, and we talk occasionally, even about what The Helper used to be before a lot of the veteran members previously became inactive.

Anyways, now I am no longer a 13 year old kid who makes Warcraft maps, types like an idiot (my old threads show a lot of that), and I am married with a wife and a daughter on the way in November. I am in the U.S. Army and I am a Health Care Specialist (Combat Medic/Clinic Medic), I fulfill my role as both a combat medic and a clinic medic, and yes not all of us medics earn the opportunity to learn both roles. I plan to advance my career in Health Care, and I also plan to work on projects such as websites or game maps on the side for fun like I used to. This website has taught me a lot in these last few years, and is a great resource for players to use. Recommend it to your friends and learn.

Improvements
I feel that The Helper is a great community, and it always has been a great community, very rewarding, and great support for new/old players. However, every great community is not perfect, and can always use improvement. I feel that The Helper can improve by supporting more games, rather than limiting themselves to just Blizzard Games. This will allow The Helper to gain popularity, and a larger userbase who are not just fans of Blizzard Games. I also suggest a database type sub-forum where players can search for resources or guides for certain games or applications. For example, a Resources Board where you can find resources for programming, coding, scripting, video games, such as models/artwork/sound for editors such as the SC2 Editor or the Wc3 Editor, brushes for Photoshop...etc. Members with various interests, and may even pick up a new one if it is available on a friendly website. To keep it simple, members would upload their files on an externally approved website that TheHelper allows to keep bandwidth down.

Sustains
Keep up the friendly community that has been together for years now. Continue helping players with their questions they ask and provide the best help that you can. What is great is that you can have some questions asked, and answered, and someone can come out with an even BETTER answer than another person may say, and in turn teach everyone. The staff members are also great aswell, they are fairly quick in moderating the forum and defusing any touchy conversation which may go on in the website. Another thing I believe that is great which should continue is more random world news that is posted. That has been a favorite of mine, although it really has nothing to do with the site itself. Myself, and others clearly enjoy to read interesting news, and The Helper definitely posts that.

I am thewrongvine. I like to watch accname bash FireCat.

Joined in 2006. Met a lot of cool people then and now, many of which I consider to be good friends of mine even today.
Got to play and be a part of a lot of fun maps back in the wc3 days because of this community. Was a great place to help noobs like myself with the world editor.
Also enjoyed some times and improved my skills with the creative section when it was alive.
As I'm into filmmaking, the Entertainment section is a favorite of mine, even if just to discuss movies or shows for like one post.

Definitely glad I joined this website. The resources have helped me greatly over the years, though the best part of this are the people that I've met.

Yes, FireCat, I'm talking about you.

I'm Varine. I'm an elitist and don't particularly like anyone, however... Cheshire is an attraction worth sticking around for. It's especially fun because Cheshire doesn't seem to acknowledge that he's Cheshire half the time. It's double fun when other people don't realize who Cheshire is because then I can say stupid shit to them too and they always get really mad.

None of you are friends, because that's kind of fucking weird. I've never met you, you're just some dudes I talk to on the Internet. Sometimes when someone goes AWOL for a while I wonder if you commit suicide. I think we all do. The only guy on the Internet I would call my friend is the good guy Russian from Call of Duty that called my room mate and got him to come let me in the house when I locked myself out (wireless headsets are beneficial for safety reasons, it turns out). I'm guessing it was a really awkward phone call and I sincerely appreciated it. And probably cost like ten dollars, long distance inter-continental is spendy shit.

Hello everyone, I'm Mahucharn ("Hi Mahucharn.."). I'm still alive Varine! Just busy! I joined back in 2006, and (while I haven't been super active since college hit) have really enjoyed the group of people that I've interacted with. I joined TheHelper in response to the All Heaven vs. Hell Combinations thread. Through this website, I have communicated with many great people and have gotten to enjoy a lot of Warcraft Talk. Also a great place to go to laugh (Funny Picture Thread rings a bell). Now a student studying psychology. Yeah... not very long, but oh well :)
