World Peru: Dolphins Chopped Up, Skinned Alive to Use as Shark Bait for Asian Delicacy

Animal conservation groups are enraged over the brutal slaughtering of thousands of dolphins off the coast of Peru, where the mammals are used as shark bait for an Asian delicacy known as shark fin soup.

Shark fin soup is a very expensive dish in China, among other Asian countries. The extravagant dish comes at a much higher cost -- not only on a humane and ethical level, but the price paid could be the disruption of our oceans' entire ecosystem.

Both the dolphin and shark populations have been devastated by the hunt, and a new investigation reveals that at least 10,000 dolphins are killed off the coast of Peru each year by fisherman who use them as shark bait, according to watchdog group Asociación Mundo Azul.

The London-based Ecologist Film Unit recently recorded one of the hunts in an undercover investigation and released its material, CNN reports. The disturbing video shows the crew plunging a harpoon into the pod, and once captured, the carnage begins.

For those of you who eat meat, you have no idea how cruelly the animals that go on your dinner plate are slaughtered. If you really love animals, don't eat them. If people don't eat meat, then there won't be any slaughterhouses and animals bred specifically to be butchered and eaten by humans, so don't say "if you don't eat them, the die anyways."
I am a vegetarian. I hope everyone can become a vegetarian one day, and stop consuming the carcasses of animals and thinking that it is delicious when in reality it is rotting away in your wet, humid, 37.5 degrees digestive tract.

You want to keep pigs as pets? Those horrible misfigured things which have been breed over centuries just to be slaughtered? We have changed those animals so much that they would not survive a normal life. They are nothing but a convenient way to mass produce meat. They are not normal animals anymore, they have been engineered for a certain purpose.
