Why do you think people do especially WC3 players h8 on it [i used to untill i did trial i liked it]
heres what i wanted to post in a diff thread but it was too off topic so i removed it

Cause wc3 is from July 3, 2002
while wow is
November 23, 2004
so newer = Better for the gamer
Better quality
Better community
Better support
Rpgs are just obsessed over
and if i were to bet the #1 reason why people h8 wow is the "addiction" which we all know is absolute bull shit[that and paying]

tell me what you think we people h8 it?
feel free to comment react write your reason why you do/think people h8 it for x,y,and z

There are PLENTY of people who are addicted to WoW. I know 3 or 4. That's one of the reasons.

Another reason is because people quit other games and start to ONLY play WoW. There's a few people even on this site that quit everything else to go to WoW. Myself included, for a long time.

Also, WCIII and WoW can't be compared very well. Warcraft III is a lot of Lore, an RTS, and lets players create their own games.

WoW is an RPG, which revolves around you building up your character, playing in groups, and customizing your UI.

People say WoW is too addicting..

It's not really that addicting..

I play around 10-11 hours of WoW a week and a couple of hours on xbox with friends.

Many people also say WoW sucks because they suck at the game.. I mean if you never been level 80, you can't really say the game sucks.

I had a lengthy post, but I don't want people to get offended. Here's some simple things to keep in mind:

1. WoW is a game considered 'nerdy', especially when talked about in the open.
2. WoW IS addictive, don't deny it please. I am one who was, but just because it's addictive doesn't give anyone a good reason to hate it. Soda is addictive to some, but is that a good reason to hate? No. Some idiots think like this though ;)
3. WoW costs money, and this is why I am not a fan. I play WC3 because it's the right price for me.

main reasons i can think of that people hate wow are:
  • not their prefered game style MMORPG
  • people getting killed by other players with better gear or a higher level as it feels unfair
  • the constant feeling that there are better players then themselves because the have better gear
  • exclusion from raiding ect
  • feeling the Wow community is made up of a young 10-13 age group but still not being better then them
  • repetiveness of quests
  • not wanting to be a geek or nerdy gamer playing is because things such as elves, orcs and magic are from a fantasy background and because of D&D a game people perceived are geeky would you belive it alot of anti wow playeres are worried what people think of them

I dont feel there is such thing as game addiction asleast not in a serious sense you have to be addicted to aactual addictibe substance such as myself to be truly be able to draw parrarels as not everything we do regualarly is due to compulsion. The only reason that people will play games like Wow for long periods of time is the huge amount of content and the mentality you get that the better or longer you play the better your character will get which is true. People arent addicted they just want to be the best and alot of us are naturally competitive

"The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or or involved in something."
You're going to fight with this definition? C'mon, just admit it. Like I said, is soda really 'addictive', or I guess the chemical I'm referring to is 'caffiene'. No, at least, not for everyone. Some people get shaky when they don't have enough. Now anyone who stays up to date on random events like me knows well that people have had sideeffects when away from WoW too long. Hell, I had withdrawals when I stopped playing WoW, I won't hide it. I know, it sounds retarded, but it's something I formed an addiction to.

Anyways, back to topic.
I definitely agree it's because people don't want to feel nerdy. Only reason I stopped playing Pokemon early on lol. I still remember playing in elementary school, and as soon as it became uncool, everyone stopped.

YES, the age thing ticked me off. You enter the Barrens, and I just remembered there would be tons of 10yr olds laughing their asses off about Chuck Norris jokes... Some kids were OK, but some just also, didn't know how to play without playing right (forming and staying in a group, rolling on items they shouldn't, etc, even when instructed beforehand multiple times). It also ticked me off how unbalanced the game was. Paladins were so rigged unless you had a Priest to mana burn the hell out of them, then they sucked! It got me mad when they gave each opposing side the opposing unique character! One reason I hate Blizzard, but w/e.

Just my thoughts on this topic. Interesting what some people have said :p

No, the reason people dislike WoW isn't because of the nerd factor. If you take a moment to step outside of your nerd enclosure, you can see games are no longer a nerd venture. I'm a massive nerd myself, but not conventionally. I'm a guy all the girls know as either the hot guy or the complete asshole, I'm also a guy that all the blokes look up to as the man... or think of me as the biggest asshole. I'm all those things and more in between..

...but fuck me, I love my games.

I don't deny it either. When I'm chatting up girls on a night out there's always the inevitable questions of 'what do you do for work? What do you for fun?'... and I don't beat around the bush, I tell them straight up. 'I don't do much and I play alot of games'. Their response isn't 'what a fucking loser' (sure my physique and wild hairstyle soften the blow but still) but generally 'oh, what games do you play?'. Ideally they want to hear you own a wii or ds, but still the fact remains - gamers aren't just the closed group of fuck-up mummy boys anymore.

So then why do people hate WoW? Hmmm it could be these reasons -

1. WoW is a well planned money making venture. Everything from the size of the environment, the location of quests to the drop rate of loot is designed to keep players playing for longer, but only just long enough so that they don't get sick of it and drop it like the sack of shit it is. It's easy for an inquisitive person to look at the game and go 'why the fuck am I paying to run 50km from this graveyard again?', but a kid who just wants to hang out with his online pals and make a name for himself will be blind to this. Possibly the kid will shout 'It's punishment for being a n00b and dying fool!'. No kid, it's not. It's punishment for being stupid enough to play a game that has a monthly fee.

2. The environments lack any depth. Not once during my brief stint of playing did I look at the area and go, 'my god, it's breath taking'. Actually, all I saw in each area was a whole lot of ground I didn't really want to travel and a bunch of xp represented by a different coloured units I had already killed for xp in the last area I was in. Not only that but player models look GAY. Sure they have more poly's then warcraft 3's yet somehow they still lack in character. Even I can't figure out why that is.

3. It's purely a grind fest. I got the game very close to it's release, merely because of the fact that Blizzard hadn't let me down before. I'd never even played an MMO in my life, yet it only took me the first 6 levels to realize quests are pointless. From there I just spent all my play time grinding xp. I didn't need guides to figure that shit out, I'd just kill something, compare how is it was to kill to other things I'd stabbed and then compared how much I could sell it's junk for. I got to level 45 after only 2 days playing time, then referred to point #1.... why the fuck am I paying for this? So I thought I'd just explore the game for a while and get lost in it's beauty and lore... and it didn't take me long to refer to point #2. After referring to point #2 it's really quite inevitable that you refer to point #1 again and decide to cancel your account. That is of course if you have any brains.

4. It doesn't require much skill to play. Yeah, I hear you all crying 'yesh it does, you're just shit at it' in your defense, but no, you're wrong. That's the beauty of it, the game is designed to give everyone a chance.... for some people it may take a bit longer but hey, don't worry son... a few more monthly payments and you'll find someone you can kill.

...and that's all there is really. Everyone is capable of killing someone in the game... whether it be because there class > the enemy class, their items are better or just because they have played long enough and read enough guides to get a good set up going for button mashing spells. The game runs at a mediocre pace with decent cool downs controlling the flow of battle.

It's really just the kind of game for the drop-kick who loves gaming but can't really win at anything. I've seen many a pro at an internet cafe (majority of which have no sense of style and have interweb forged personalities) talk about how good they are at wow, how mad all their equipment is and how powerfully sick their guild is. Then they play and I hear them mutter 'that's fucking bullshit he can't do that' every 2 minutes. Why? because they are getting ownt. Then eventually they kill someone and become king of the world again, forgetting all the moments they got shit on in an instant.

When you look at other games like melee RTS's or FPS's, you can't deny skill level sets players apart. You either have it or you don't, there's no 2 ways about it. Sure, you can get better at these games but you will eventually reach your limit. Yeah, you can argue this too.... but fuck you. It's just like sport... you could train someone more then Beckham with better facilities and coaching but at the end of the day there's no guarantee they are going to be a better soccer player. Personally, no matter how hard I try I can't play melee RTS for shit, microing resources and units n such is way beyond my mental control. However play me in CSS and my scout will eat you alive, my hand eye co-ordination and reaction time has been proven to be faster then even some people can visually register.

Ahhh fuck it, you know I could go on and on with why WoW isn't a great game but if you don't get it by now then you never will.... you'll just become another one of these people who quits it purely because they can't kid themselves anymore, then preach about how they regret it but at the same time it was fun in an attempt to fool people who KNOW all you did was waste your time and money.

This whole post is in response to MurderMode.

I agree that the nerd factor doesn't apply for everyone, but trust me, it does to some. It's not what stopped me from playing WoW, I just simply got bored of siphoning my cash to them, and needed to focus more on school. But playing WoW I'll admit doesn't make you an automatic nerd, it depends on how you say it. For example, try talking about different item combos around a table of girls and see what happens, or some strategies, etc. Won't last long without some awkward faces I bet :p

1. Well, yea, I agree with you there. And to make you play longer, they make expansions that cost a shitload of money. I'm glad I didn't even upgrade once. I thought about it, but quit a few months after it came out. Saved me $40 or so.

2.Really? I thought some were pretty cool. Guess it's all opinion. You must have started as orc or something, because six levels isn't much to go by....

3. Not true, quests give good items, give good exp, and best yet, give a purpose to the game (kind of). Quests also help you naturally find new places, at the right level, and all the other good stuff that makes the game anything but a grind fest.

4. It depends. At level 6, it doesn't. The game is being introduced. Later on though, it takes....I wouldn't say skill, but it definitely takes something. You can't just jump in at lvl 60 and expect to be hella good. You have to carefully plan your next move if you are hoping on winning :p Personally, I never actually read any strategies, but I would plan my next moves, get everything all setup, etc. It was annoying though, because one thing wrong as the healer, and the little kiddies god mad at you >.> Woops, sorry I didn't heal you NOOB, but you shouldn't have ran into that area behind the block without telling me, stay with the group! (after calling me a noob for being killed of course). Ugh, another reason I hate WoW lol.

The new expansion has been toned down A LOT. Pretty much every aspect of the game which made it hard has been removed or a reduced "grind". Raids and dungeons are much easier (heroics at 80 are cake after you hit 80 compared to heroics at 70 being hard as fuck.) Every PvE encounter has been cleared within first week of release, wait less almost 3 days. Grinds for rep, gold, items have been reduced greatly and most classes have an equal balance in skills. Their doing this to make regular gamers see end game content just like hardcore players, almost 5% of level 70 raiders saw sunwell probably 2-3% saw KJ, almost everybody at 80 who has raided has seen all of naxx and other 3 bosses. My guildies find this saddening as they loved the grind and difficulty of gearing up everyone and attempting bosses and wiping and learning new fights, not just going into naxx 25 first night there and clearing it with maybe 3 wipes total. The game is now easy mode for most players, and main focus is now going to be on PvP balance, (pvp patch tomorrow). Over all the game is fun at 80 i dont mind the endless grinds, but i enjoy pvp and for people who say you dont need skill your wrong you can tell whose better very easily even if they have the same gear.
