A map is good if it is fun to play for you.
Maps get played often if they are constantly hosted and fun to play.
It is worth to continue a project if continuing it is fun, or when you got lots of feedback.

currently I'm too bothered with my reallife, battleships crossfire and krusade.

I'm worse. I made +12 maps that died out because I thought they were 2 crappy.. (one is an RPG w/c btw is almost 67%, based on Diablo, 3 CTF's and 1 altered melee), and discontinued Tropical Assault footman war (serch in member's projects). All of my maps were made by myself in solo and all are crap.

I'm currently planning for an Arena map which doesn't suck. I'll start the map after I have finished the planning (say September), and this might be my first and last 'non-crap' map. And after its release I'm going to withdraw from Wc3 map-making because I'm getting the hang of my Manga drawing skills, and I need plenty of practice, since I'm an aspiring Manga-ka (manga artist, like Akira Toriyama, who created Dragonball and DBZ).
