Detecting Pathing for cameras

Hey, I'm currently trying to make my own camera system for my orpg.
It's a Third person Camera like many other such systems, u can rotate the camera around the unit and zoom in and zoom out using the arrowkey.

I didn't really know witch forum to put this but anyway..

The question I have is wether it is possible in anyway to detect pathing for the camera.
I have seen some systems changing Angle of Attack when detecting cliffheights, so that it doesnt clip the terrain when you have your heroes back to a mountain wall or something.
While this is neat, I would like it to be like that but with pathing.
I plan to make the camera zoom in when near pathing.

is this possible in any way?

What do you mean by pathing?

As in walkable, water, nonbuildable, nonflyable?

Or terrain-type?

In either case, you can.

oh sorry for not specifying more.

When you press "p" in WE you can see what you have pathed. as in not walkable.

Buildings, mountain edges.. everything I've pathed basically..
so let's say I build a custom made house with 4 walls.
and i path the walls so u can't walk through them..
I would like to detect the pathing of the walls from behind my unit.
So when I turn around with my 3rd person cam, and the back of my unit is facing a wall (pathing), the camera zooms in, so u don't see through the wall.
I know how to make cam zoom and all, just not how to detect a certain "range to pathing behind units back" :p
