Disable Items

Is there a way to disable items for a unit? Like Doom, except no silence.

if you buy an item from the shop disable that item for the buying unit? or disable so you can only have 1 item of the same type?

I think he means to not allow a hero the option to use items for a certain time. It is possible, because I did it on accident before while messing with Silence... but I'm not sure exactly what I did. If I can figure it out I will post it here.
