Is it possible to export the triggers of a .scm/.scx file to a .txt file and edit them in text? Is there any type of prog/hack out there to do this? Copying & pasting would be much easier in text...
The problem with making maps the regular way is that you can't use many of the commands that are possible, you can't modify all variables, you can't deal with all units, and you can't copy and paste conditions and actions between triggers but can only copy and paste entire triggers. Also, on slower machines, typing many of the actions and conditions would be faster.
As for a text editor for scm's I don't know of any, but I'll see how thoroughly encoded the trigger save files are. The real trick for writing one would be to figure out Blizzard's encoding scheme.
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
I'm on a page about incorrect corrections, and spent the better part of like two hours trying to get someone to understand that -5^2 = -25, not 25, and then that post had comments get reposted because that group is self sustaining, and that person was in turn trying to explain what I just explained to them. And I'm taking that as a victory
