How do you turn off 3G from Gravity T cellphone?

Hi, I just got a new cellphone, and I really do not want to be connected to 3G because I don't want to accidentally receive Data or use something that requires data. (I don't have the data plan). So is there ANY possible/easy way to turn off the 3G connection and only allow text messaging and calling, etc?

can you call your carrier and ask them to disable data?

We called them and they said that if you don't have the data plan, then it will prompt you before you use the Web, so no they can't disable data.

Another question: I just sent a picture message and the 3G icon went red.. does that mean it cost me money to send that message? Because my contract says i have free picture messaging...... this is really stupid lol.

MMS uses data, but doesn't count towards data use.

Just throwing this out there, but disabling 3G won't stop the data usage. Data usage works on the normal signal too, 3G just makes it a lot faster.
