Is there a step into/step over debugger in NewGen JASS Pack?

Actually I don't know how to say this. It does the following:

It can step into a JASS code, shows you what it does, and then steps into a second JASS code, and shows you what it does, and so on.

It's like the complier used in Visual C++, where it steps into the code from the top, shows you a console, then steps into another code, shows you the console, and so on...

Is there any? Or will it never exist?

Ah! My faulty vocabulary...

Is there a debugger for WE?

There is a basic debugger for war3 called pyw3jdebug.
It comes with NewGen and requires python.
*points at the manual*

Ah, thanks for pointing out, but somehow the fine manual isn't as fine as it's used to be.

Python? You mean an engine or something?

Python is a really cool interpreted language that is platform-independant, easy to learn, nice to code, fast to code, object orientated, can do really cool things like passing functions as arguments, is really cool, and so on.
Two problems though:
1. It's interpreted
2. It's not as cool as Ruby ; )

anyway, just go HERE and download it

Ruby? Oh well...

How do you debug WE maps using Python?

Sure...
as soon as there will be something better ; )
Well it just depends on the job you're trying to accomplish, and many things can be done easier with OO languages than with procedural ones

OOP is the optimal solution for a very small range of problems. For most others, there is usually something better. If the language doesn't allow for a better solution, X problem will usually be solved in an object oriented manner and so the cycle continues. OOP has its place, but it isn't at the top.

The video seems a good example of the type of spoon-feeding that is commonplace in business - rather than noting advances as they come and inferring things for themselves, people need to be told why X feature will Change Their Lives™ and revolutionize Y field. Successful rhetoric is what decides the next trend, not substance.

This might sound hackneyed but a lot of this "wave of the future" type stuff has been present in lisp for a very long time (garbage collection, dynamic typing and closures, among other things). Even Matz is pretty open about the "inspiration" behind Ruby.

No debuggings at all?

I wouldn't care more or less about different OOL (object-oriented languages) or OOPs (object-oriented paradigms), as I have to learn each of them later in life.

And I would be thinking of using C# instead of Python, as it's hard to read.

You do not need to know python, you just need it installed to run the debugger.
There is also a standalone version that doesn't require Python here
The Grimoire manual explains how to install and use it.

Okay, I'll be checking on the Grimoire manual. Thanks for your help.
