Macfuse (needed for NTFS driver)

Cyberduck (FTP)

TextWrangler (better text editor)

SMCfancontrol (cool down those macbooks)

Caffiene (keep the computer awake)

InsomniaX (keep computer awake when lid is closed)

AppCleaner (remove apps and all their system files)

UnrarX (rar support)

Roxio Toast (burning software)

Skype

Gimp

Most of those are essential to my mac and I would recommend them to everyone.

The best download manager of all, atleast for me: Gigaget. I don't think it gets updated anymore but it has a huge increase of speed for me which otehrs don't Like up to 10x

I'd strongly recommend the KMPlayer. It looks amazing with the default skin (ignore the one on the download website), and plays just about everything with it's own codecs! No need to download moar.
It's also got just about everything you'd want from a video player, including masses of settings and options that you may want to mess around with (though the default is perfect for me; I sometimes adjust subtitle size for Fullmetal Alchemist).
