picture preview

not sure what happened.

I go to the My Documents folder

I have the folder set for viewing as Web Page

my BMP extension files will show a thumbnail preview if I select them (but do not open them)

however my jpg extensions do not show a preview of the picture.

I have the following software installed irfanview and the irfanview icon shows on all jpg pictures the the preview will not show up as it does for BMP extensions

I was able to solve the problem by booting up in DOS mode and doing a...

/C: scanreg /restore

of yesterday mornings backup.

However I still do not know what messed this up nor how to restore it other than doing a restore. Of course the restore will only work if I catch the problem within four days of it happening since I only have the last 4 days worth of registery backups.

A special thanks goes to Dell setting up this computer to do a registery backup the first time I turn on the computer each day.

for the record, you can paste this into notepad, and save it as a .reg file and then run the .reg file
