the radio was ok gave you a few extra npc's and told you a bomb was going to go off in the city being able to make a flame thrower would of been good roamers all you had to do was shoot them and they died the problem with the map is if you get a load of un experianced people and have to always search for materials and things

Yeah...but you need teamwork for sure :rolleyes:. That is, if you want to survive to the end. Don't greedy, the players who play will eventually get you soon.

RZO2 Update

OK so its looks like there is still interest in RZO =) Me and a few others have been working on RZO2 on and off for the past year but we always run into roadblocks. The problem is: when the complexity and size of the scripts get to a certain point the game desyncs. I will be releasing the current code base for RZO1 & 2 soon so that the community can benefit from it. But, before I do I think ill take one last stab at making it stable (For the 4th time). Oh, and I fully support map unprotecting for RZO. Its just that I did not want to release my current code in the state its in, for the fear it would spread various bugs around the community. Its not that the scripting is bad, Its that the WC3 engine just cant handle it. Well im off to try to revive RZO2... wish me luck =)

Zugs Source

I'm posting the current version of the ZUGS source here just so people can see it. If you see ANY bugs please post/reply. I will be creating a test map so people can see it implemented shortly.

There were too many leaks and bugs in the origional ZUGS I posted so I removed it.... here is the most recent version with (Hopefully) most of the bugs fixed. *I've move the current ZUGS source to the ZUGS post at the beginning of this topic*

Actually, the map is not nearly complete. I have remade the map at least 4 times over the past year trying to fix various bugs and implement things how I wanted them. The most current version is 100% JASS, and implements some crazy stuff. I am happy to report that last night I have had the first STABLE test of RZO2 with no crashes/freezes/desyncs/frozen heros. The frozen hero bug was particularly hard to cure. When the map gets to the point that the core gameplay is finished and mostly bug free, i'll release that version of the map here unprotected. Mind you, it won't have any quests/storyline/events. I have a feeling that I will have it ready to go today or tomorrow, so check back here often. Oh, and the reason I posted ZUGS was so that people could look at it and criticize it so I could make it better. :)

If you need help with anything PM me..I'm willing to help you...seeing that you are putting in Hard work into this...unlike other projects...people dump them you are trying your best..I like to see that :D

I'd also like to help with this heavy project, I enjoy using the Oblect Editor (One of my specialties). If you have trouble with the Object Editor or need help, I'll be of assistance.

The good and the bad

Well I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I have finished completing the guts of RZO2. I've fixed all hero freezes and desyncs that were going on and the game is nearly stable. Over the past 2 days I have checked off over 2 pages of the RZO "ToDo" list, and my map is soon moving out of alpha and into beta, at which time I will post an unprotected version here. After the beta version is posted here, I will continue to update it as I add cinematics and quests and eventually take it out of beta. The bad news is: bugs. Or, I should say: A bug. As I said before, the game is "nearly stable", which isn't the same as completely stable. Although not very prevalant, it seems that about 1 out of every 10 games will randomly end in a fatal exception. I've tried looking at bytecode dumps to no avail. The next step is to try and reproduce the conditions for creating the crash by doing ALOT of multiplayer tests. So if anybody wants to see RZO2 in action, and help me debug it in the process, I will be on the B.Net U.S. West servers for the next few days using the name Zyphre. Just send me a whisper. I appreciate any help i can get fixing this problem. Once it is solved, I am going to release the unprotected map on these forums so people can learn from my mistakes. :)

Well, I've got some bad news.... I've decided not to release the source to RZO2 just yet. Over the past few days, nearly everyone I've talked to (mostly beta testers) said that I should not release the source to RZO2 publicly, and I've been swayed by their arguments. In fact, a few of the beta testers said that if I released they source, they just might try to steal the map because it's so good. But, before I make a final decision, I'd like some input from the community here.

Here is the list of reasons why I don't think I should release the source.
  1. People might steal the map directly and not credit me.
  2. People might make *Hacked* and *Cheat* versions of the map.
  3. In a game with save/load cheating can ruin the experience even if the map being played on is the official version.
  4. I will be releasing the "ZUGS Base Map" which will be a starting point/tutorial for maps using ZUGS. RZO2 uses ZUGS heavily.
  5. People might host the unprotected map on B.Net and its 500K bigger.
  6. I am still willing to give the source to people I trust and I am willing to give partial code sections to people requesting how I did specific things.

Here is the list of reasons why I think I should release the source.
  • People could learn great things from RZO2 that they could not quite learn from ZUGS alone.
  • If the project ever get dumped(unlikely) somebody else could easily take over the project.

Please, if you have any more input to add, I would be deeply grateful. :D

Hey, i loved rural zombie onslaught so I'm sure once your done with rzo2 it will be awesome. you probably shouldn't release a full unprotected version because of theft and hacking. if you need another beta tester pm me :p

Alright here is a mission idea:

-Labratory Mayhem-

I'm going to be very un-detailed cuz im just throwing this out. Basically a group of scientists captured a zombie and tried to mutate it, in which they had success, up to a point. The point of the experiment was to get a extremely powerful zombie to fight for the scientists, but it went wrong. The zombie became very powerful but still was just a mindless savage. So basically your in a small confined lab, and you have to maneuver around a giant zombie. (Abomination) The only way to do major damage to him, is to wait until he swings at you and he hits an object and gets stuck for a few s3econds, wall etc. And then you shoot him. (To give it more of a boss feel). if you beat it your given 1 of 3 random weapons, including a

Bio-Expulsion Rifle: Inject zombies with a dangerous chemicals, causing their rotting flesh to react violently. Causes zombies to explode violently, with a 2% chance of creating a mutant zombie instead. (Kinda like a mini version of boss)

Me and HuskyNinja have been working on RZO2 for the past week and we have made MAJOR progress! A new version of ZUGS will be posted soon as well. :)

Rzo Quest Ideas Wanted =)

* Update 06/28/07 *
The map is going REALLY well. The classes have been balanced. The bugs have been squashed. And the gameplay is REALLY REALLY frustrating (fun). The only thing left to do is add in a bunch of quests. We have a bunch of planned quests. But, because we want each game to be random and unique, we need many many more. Thats where you guys come in. Any quest ideas would help us out GREATLY. If you have a quest idea that gets added to the game, and we would be happy to put your name in the credits section of the game. Some of the ideas we've had will be added later to this thread. :)

Quest - The Phsycic Kid
How to start it: Go into the house where the phsycic kid is.
Goal: Protect the kid from the zombified remains of his family.
Reward: A kid with amazing powers follows you around.

Quest - Moonshining
How to start it: Find the moonshiner wandering around his farm
Goal: Protect his batch of moonshine from evil rat zombies
Reward: 20 Fuel

Quest - The Rooftop Sniper
How to start it: Get within shooting range of the rooftop sniper
Goal: Protect the sniper from an rush of zombie ravens.
Reward: A Sniper Rifle

Quest - Moltov Mayhem
How to start it: It starts you
Goal: Kill the crazy pyromaniac throwing moltovs at everything that moves (including you)
Reward: A Flamethrower

Quest - The Father's Father
How to start it: Approach the priest near the church.
Goal: Kill the zombie of the priests father.
Reward: A priest with a sawed off shotgun follows you around

Quest - The Keeper's Keeper
How to start it: Find the school's groundskeeper
Goal: Escort him to the hospital
Reward: The keys to his tractor

bug: funny how 40 ft monsters cant step over pipe bombs
never run out of fuel for car ... u turn nerutal u cant even save i think.
why is their towing company in a zombie infested town??

how to start it: talk to a surviing veteran of the zombie
goal: go to the zombie infested armory and clean up the place
Reward: huge amount of ammo and guns.. a gernade launcer would be nice.. or a laser gun..lots of fuel...TANK.. choice one or two.

suggestion: the zombies in armory are infested soldiers they carrys rifles and will shoot you.. add a big general guy and he carrys something cool and you got to take him out.

also please make the stim thing stack more.. cost so much for so little....

in game feature: dead players should be recarinated into a shooting zombie but much weaker then life so ppl that die can have fun while they wait for remake or take revenge on some "accident by other players"

This is the best game i have ever played. it really is my favorite custom map.
It separates the men from the boys. As someone else has already said. The only problem with it is that the corpses stick around way to long, in a other map that had this problem made a trigger that removes all the corpses after a player types -dead. The cool thing about it is that it only removed them to the player that typed it. So if people didn't have lag, they could still have the feeling of killing a million of creatures.:shades:
