IRC info

irc://irc.thehelper.net:6667/thehelper

Any IRC client will do (mIRC, ChatZilla, xchat, ...)

To be able to talk at all, you must register with your forum name.

You may use any nickname that is not registered yet.
Though your forum name is probably best.

<member name here> = NICKNAME YOU WANT TO BE CALLED

Once connected:
/msg NickServ register www.thehelper.net <member name here> <--YOU MUST DO THIS FIRST YOU CONNECT TO THE CHAT AND ONLY THAT TIME

Should that work, you may, from then on, identify as that member with:
/msg NickServ identify <forum password> <-- YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU CONNECT TO THE CHAT

The chat is currently set up to only allow people with 25+ reputation to talk.

On a related note, TH made a serious mistake in his post... he put the link first, then the instructions. Should have been the other way around, otherwise no one will ever read them...

Oh, what about the become a "Special Member" thing?
And by the way please make a chat button at the navigation bar The Helper
So that at least the chat would have more people.

Oh, sorry what I mean is the left side navigation. It's more noticeable in there, maybe XD

You mean hidden within a bunch of other links? Hm...

Currently, it's right next to "User CP", the link of all links, that all rep-addicts (about 98.7% of our members),
check out about once every 6-7 seconds.
If you don't notice it there...

I would like to know what software you used to install the server and integrate it into vBulletin. Could you link me to the software page, please?

The server is UnrealIRCd (identifies itself in the main window when you join).
The "integration" is simply a Java applet that behaves like client software - in our case that's PJIRC (probably written somewhere on the chat page).

Sorry to bump such an mature thread (40+ days old, perhaps?), but I have to point 1 thing out.

The link to PJIRC, I think, is no longer up. The domain had been taken away by some ISP.
