It actually does copy the unit entirely, but not the things (model) which the thing which is linked to your unit (actor) needs.
If your unit loses it's model, you should find the actor linked to your unit. This most-likely is something like "Marine Copy" if it concerns a Marine. Inside that actor you have to find "Art-Model". It'll say something like "Marine Model Copy", which doesn't exist. Select it and tab arrow key up, so it will be "Marine Model", which actually DOES exist. And voila, there is your model.
I'm on a page about incorrect corrections, and spent the better part of like two hours trying to get someone to understand that -5^2 = -25, not 25, and then that post had comments get reposted because that group is self sustaining, and that person was in turn trying to explain what I just explained to them.
