The mlg final just got its first regame due to player disconnects. The preliminary reason given was bnet instability (eg, bad connection to the internet). This is why you want LAN functionality.

You can always have a 2 player match with computers and have the ai move by an input from another player and then.... uh f#ck it why NO LAN Bilzzard!

I had thought Blizzard said they were going to make a LAN version for tournaments only...

mlg is still on standby, unable to get a stable connection to bnet.

Edit: The official reason given is some network problem between mlg and the bnet servers.
In other words, both the mlg network and the bnet servers was working perfectly and yet there was problems.
Also, the game is now on after 2 hours of waiting
