Notebook Overheating and Fan Replacement

Recently my laptop has been overheating.
Mainly because of insufficient airflow (planning to buy a cooling pad for this problem.)
And me forcing it to game on high settings.

Symptoms include automatic shutdown due to heat.
And the graphics card throttling down its performance due to heat.

And lately, I noticed that the fan doesnt seem to be running on start-up.
Sometimes I have to literally spin it manually before it can go by itself.

The GPU even reached 96*C before shutting down at one point when the fan wasn't spinning.

According to the disassembly manual, the fan assembly looks like this:

My questions are:

Are replacement CPU Fans for notebooks easily available?
(i.e. I don't need the specific model X fan for a certain laptop Y)

Are replacement fans interchangable?
(i.e. I want to install a fan with the same size but higher RPM)

And what permanent damage can overheating do to the laptop and the GPU?

Are replacement CPU Fans for notebooks easily available?

CPU fans for notebooks should be available online if you do some looking around - I can't guarantee this as I'm not a laptop user. Alternatively you could contact the company who produced the laptop. If it's still under warranty they could evaluate the problem and hopefully fix it.

This all depends on the motherboard support. If it supports higher RPM fans than the current one then it should work. Always check the specifications of each product and also find some forums where people have had experience upgrading the fan on their laptops.

Operating a laptop at very high temperatures leads to failed hardware components (video cards, motherboards, memory modules, hard drives and more are susceptible to damage) and decreases the lifespan of your computer. It can also be a fire hazard.

the components that "age" in electronics are the capacitors - they will age faster with heat, and eventually leak nasty stuff out which will then short out other circuits - the rest of the electronics will also "age" in that they will have increased resistance over time, causing the laptop to draw more power and generate more heat for the same task

I would try just cleaning it and re-lubricating it with some oil, as laptop fans can be hard to find as they aren't exactly standard - and if you do find one, it is probably going to be the exact same version that you currently have
