I wouldn't recommend running a Vent server from your PC you use.

Doesn't that depends on how many you want on your server? I set up my own server from time to time, but only take on about 5 people, and my now kinda old computer can handle it without any trouble at all.

No Cornface, with Ventrillo there are many resources used in the server. It's never a good idea to use your home PC for any type of server application, for that reason. If you're just going to boot it up for when you need it, just find someones to use.
