It would be badass if you spelled it right... Cuthulhu. Spell it with me, and no you don't want him because that would be more of a funny tattoo than serious. And that other one isn't even mythical, it's a saber toothed tiger. I'm telling you dude, emo care bears.

As you're looking for mythical creatures with both a meaning as well as a badass appearance, this is quite difficult....

-Sfinx, he stands for wisdom, riddles, etc

-Wadjet, he stands for the sun and the desert (probably a sucky idea, unless you happen to be egyptian)

-Roc, he's basicly a giant eagle. These stand for might and power.

-Gryphon, like the eagle, these guys have a mighty and powerful reputation.

-Reaper, he's not really a creature, but he's more of a person. As you ofcourse know, he stands for death (the violent and dark part of it).

-Harpy, Warcraft tends to give these winged females a wrong reputation. Go back into the Greek mythology, and you'll figure that these creatures originally stood for punishment.

-Succubus, Warcraft actually gave you the right idea with these female demons. They stand for seduction.

These probably aint the things you're going to want to tatoo on your back, as they are not as badass as tigers or dragons, but they are mythical creatures with a meaning.

Actually, it's Cthulhu :p
Sphinx?

Given Darthfett's list, and what Google churned up, I would have to go with a Basilisk. It's pretty badass.

Or, better yet, a sabre-toothed lime.

Sfinx, sphinx, yeah, sorry. I used the Dutch way to spell it. ;)

Problem is, all badass mythical creatures dont symbolize something.

Represents speed, awesomeness and shows that you're a geek. The win combination (not a picture of me, just something I found).

It's a dragon, actually. It's upside in that picture because I scanned the paper wrong, but it's on the left side of my back and the tail curves around onto my side.

You want to get a carebear. They symbolize love and friendship and compassion. I have posted an image of one for you.

This one also symbolizes rainbows.

Alternately, I would recommend the Emo Carebear. It symbolizes hatred, loneliness, self-mutilation, generic styles that the person feels is original and expresses their feelings, overemotional instability, and the color black. It has been known to represent drug addicts sometimes, as well as creepy people I don't really like to talk to (this one will work best if you get a jet black tattoo all over your body)

Either of those would be epic

The mystical WoW Player, with the power to sit still for up to 6 hours consecutively. It represents the color purple.
