Al Gore's Oscar-winning environmental documentary exaggerated the likely effects of global warming on sea levels, a new study shows.

The film, An Inconvenient Truth, suggested that the sea would rise up to 20ft "in the near future" as the ice in Greenland or Western Antarctica melts.

Other documentaries have picture Britain deluged with water, showing the House of Commons submerged.

However, while some mainstream predictions project sea levels 2 to 4 meters higher by 2100, a new study published today in Science concludes that a rise in sea level between 0.8 and 2 meters is much more likely.

Lots of evidence showing that the alarmist reports released by environmental scientists were wrong and new conclusions have been reached. The problem is that the legislation and stuff that was spurred by those alarmist reports are not being repealed or stopped.

Even if it did go as Al Gore said it would my house would be (relatively) safe. We sit on top of a hill and our whole city is like a basin, so we have had special, hi-tech drainage systems in place for ages that can take in millions of gallons of water.

Either way, we're so far in land that we'd soon have a nice view of the sea at sunset

It's pointless to debate who's right and who's wrong with the numbers. It's impossible to account for almost all the ice in the world and the surface area of the ocean at the same time. The time of these scientists would be better spent working on new solar panels.

a.) we know that the rise of water is inevitable.
b.) some countries are really just below sea level.
c.)even if they did exaggerate it, at least they gained 1 point for stating that the world will be truly flooded.

solution.. and conclusion


every country should at least have a huge concrete water tank as big as a football stadium as possible, to be able to store large amount of water.

thus changing our fate.

Dr David Vaughan of the British Antarctic Survey, commented: "while lower than a few of the wilder projections made by a fringe of activists, a rise of 0.8 to 2.0 metre in a century would cause enormous loss of life in the developing world and enormous cost in the developed world.

It wouldn't surprise me if An Inconvenient Truth "exaggerated" a lot of things. This is one reason why I have very mixed feelings about Al Gore and the many sections of the media who undermine the seriousness of climate change and environmental issues as a whole by making misleading claims about global warming.
