WIP [AoS] BftC: ReArmed and Reloaded

- [ A Map by Sid and Sam ] -

- [ Concept ] -

This map is the dream AoS that I and Sam started
but unfortunately, could not finish in time.
We had, though, released BftC : Classic which was
popular map in Mini-AoS genre. Aqquiring over 10k
downloads and consistant 4.5 / 5 ratings.

- [ What's New ? ] -

Well, everything! We have only few things common
between BftC Classic and Reloaded versions.
Firstly, the pace - despite being on bigger terrain
the Map's gameplay speed is still fast.
Instant Revivals and fast gameplay take the game to a whole
new level of gameplay. Additionally, the well thought skills
and abilities jazz up the game. Many abilities have been
designed from the perspective of combinations.
Secondly - the items set. To avoid further confusions
we decided to keep the same set of items.

- [ Heroes ] -

This time, we have special unique heroes rather than
the old classes as of Classic. But you shall find them more
interesting. As the heroes have well thought skillset and
completely custom abilities.

You want to know ? Take a look.

Oni Orc Battlemaster
A melee assassin style hero, but much more deadly.
Oni Orc lives on Combos! Combo up your moves and
your enemy will run on sight next time!

Bloodfiend
Much less HP but much more damage and high skills.
This hero should not be taken lightly.
Capable of both tanking and high skilled kills.

Rune Mage
Most versatile hero, though much of the skills
are support skills, this hero is a arsenal of
over 10 spells, and a deadly sieging ultimate.

Shadow Rogue
True Assassin and master of escape techniques.
thought this hero can pack a punch, still not
too strong without proper support.

Tauren Chieftain
The all-in-one tanking and sieging machine.
This hero simply takes a lot to actually die.

Scarab Lord
Small but deadly, Beware of both his impaling
claws and the massive amount of army of creatures
that he carries and also can summon at will.

Archon
This caster hero is one man army, has enough
survival skills and offensive magics. But, it
is not wise to move out alone, at least a buddy
who can be of much more use just as a tool.

Dark Ranger
Ranger with even deadly skills this time.
Dark Ranger is remarkably quick at hunting both
your head and some bones on the battlefield.

Royal Guard
Amazingly - the Noble looking Royal Guard is most
devastating force on the battlefield. The concept
hero that we planned for "BftC 225!" has come to
a new life in BftC:Reloaded

Storm Raider
The flying hero on the battlefield, capable of
high skills manuevers and controlling both Storm
and Frost elements. Storm Raider is a master of
of assault and escape.

Death Knight
The best support hero so far, with all abilities
that focus on HP-MP Manipulation.
Have this guy in your team, and forget about
your HP MP problems.

So far these are the Heroes in BftC : Reloaded,
but you are most welcome to pour out your ideas.

The map will be released very soon
and it is going to be my last project on Warcraft III

After this, I may make small sized fun maps, but no big projects.

Wow! This looks great!
What happened? How come you didn't finish in time (for what, anyway).
Also, its sad that this would be your last big project :(

hmm, an aos map, i cant really judge the map for now because playing the game is greater than reading the concept

Sorry for Double Post... But I need Ideas for Storm Raider.

Right now I have only made one ability and in search for 2 others, And one ultimate.
Any one... Please?

Some ideas:

Air Wing- The Storm Rider uses the air around him to allow his wing to slash through enemies. The Storm Rider flies towards the target location, dealing damage to everything in a line and reduces their armour slightly. If the unit is petrified (I am guessing the skill is some skill that turns the guy into stone :p), the petrification will be broken and there will be no armour penalty.

Crushing Descent- The Storm Rider flies high up into the sky, after a few seconds, the hero will swoop down and create a gust of wind which blows enemies away and damages them.

Storm Caller- The Storm Rider turns into a statue and starts channeling an ancient spell. After 5 seconds of channeling, a powerful storm will strike everyone on the map. Enemies and allies lose movement speed and take damage over time while the Storm Rider gains movement and attack speed.

Air Ride (passive)- The Storm Rider controls the air around it to allow himself to move more quickly. The Storm Rider gains more movement speed gradually as he moves.
Note: Basically, for each second that he is moving, he will gain a small amount of movement speed to a certain cap.

Thats pretty much all :)

Liked the Air Ride and Crushing Descent.
However, the Storm Raider is supposed to be Thunder Element (Sorry, didn't mention that early)

So, I may modify them as Thunder Elements... A little bit, Well, thanks.

And yes, Please keep posting guys, comments, critiques and suggestions are most welcome.

I'll help you modify those two spells you like :)

Crushing Descent=>Sky Thunder/Thunder Bomb/Thunderous Descent
The hero flies into the sky and strengthens his body with a Thunder Armour (hero becomes Stone Form) and flies downwards, spinning as he goes. When he lands, units at the target point will take damage and be stunned shortly.

Air Rider=>Reverse Static
As the hero starts moving, he emits small amounts of energy to counter the forces of gravity. After that, the forces of gravity will act weaker and weaker on the hero, allowing him to move more quickly for each second of movement.

But these are not just eye candy stuff, they are great while playing too.

I'll help you modify those two spells you like :)

I have made one called Storm Raid with one innate Static Charge. The Static Charge is accumulated per 5 seconds, and can max out upto 30. While attacking Charge decreases by 1 and a spellcast would decrease it by 5. But it would never drop below 1.

Now Storm Raid is a key ability of Storm Raider, and that causes lightning bolts to strike down, on random enemies in target area. While each bolt does a specific damage, the number of bolts depend directly on the Static Charge accumulated. The specified umber of bolts will charge down, so, if cast on a single unit in the area, may Lucifer spare his soul!

Okay, I liked that Reverse Static, and Sky Thunder, Reverse Static would be activatable/Deactivatable ability - While activated, it would drain the Static Charge but grant an extra boost in the speed that will go increasing over time. While deactivated, it would allow an extra point on Static Charge over time, eventually, at final level, making the rate almost double.

Oh Lucifer, spare my soul!
THIS IS EPIC! I LOVE THE LIGHTNING! MAYBE DEATH SPARE MY SOUL FROM THE LIGHTNING!
Ok, anyway, I was just wondering this: Does Storm Raid reduce the Static Charge by 1 when it is cast? I believe it does if the Static Charges are lost on cast. Better check that :p You don't want people spending an extra 25 seconds to accumulate Static Charges that will be wasted.

The map is progressing really nicely! I hope you succeed in taking over Battle.Net or something :)
I am willing to spam ideas :D

Much as I think it reduces Charge by 5.
Attacking will reduce it by only 1 though.

Don't worry about the 25 seconds, the synergy of this with Reverse Static will cause Storm Raider to Gain Static Charge, also, Storm Raid would deal fair damage even if cast on about 15 points of Static Charge.

Did I not mention that BftC had always been Balance High?
Unlike other maps where balance low is applied, i.e. minimal difference between different skills. Here, in this map, each skill does a high damage, it's your trick to use it well.

Oh, do you think this is candidate for Map of the Week?
Plus, how do i get more people posting in here? I want more support to keep me working on this.

Anyway, I think they stopped the Map of the Week thing at the 10th Map, sad.
If you want more people to post here, you could put the screenies in the first post inside a spoiler tag with a little caption below. Put more colour and your first post would make people really want to play the map. :)

It's the same skill, but used at different Static Charge levels...
There's gonna be no more lightnings flying around now. Relax.

Difficult to say, This AI would be 5x difficult to code than what it was for BftC Classic...
Still I shall try to make one... Please don't expect it to be pro-like one.

From the Screenshots, you may think that I am using a hell of Custom Models and all with my map.
But I am not. The Map's size is only about 1.6 MB for now and it's likely to reduce upto 1.2 MB when I'll release it.
I think 1.2 MB is reasonable filesize for that kinda effects...

This seems like a neat map but it would be nice if you posted all screenshots at the first post so there wouldn't be such a hazzle to go through many posts to find the screenshots.
