we all have maps we love
we all have maps we hate
lets make a list of maps we love and hate!

i'll start:

best/worst aos

best: eve of the apocalypse: twilight
why: it has a good choice of heroes, all very original, nice layout, multiple game areas(stormwail peak ftw), easy to learn, replayable, smart ai that replaces leavers

worst: defense of the ancients(few know it by this name, its usualy shortened "dota")
why: bland, unoriginal, nothing that actualy helps when you are new to it, rude, impatient and generaly idiotic community

please also say why you love/hate something, stuff like "map X sucks!!!" wont help any1

i'll add more of my own examples later, parents demand i stop siting at my comp NOW

best/worst map from blizzard campaign

best: tomb of sargeras(nelf 3, tft)
why: i like maps where u only need to control a few units instead of constantly sheepherding your entire army somewhere, awesome terrain, i like the secret areas(the blinking stuff), getting the ful orb is quite a challenge
worst: ???(ud 1 tft)
why: i generaly dont like map where you have to control multiple factions and here you have to control 3 of them, all of them very limited in what they can do, terrain feels weird and they way the ai defends is just very annoying

Best/Worst Alternative Mauls

Best: Stakerz TD
Original and fun, no one steals your kills, funny crepps, can play solo because its a survivor TD, but only downside is that there are only about 3 races.

Worst: Doodad TD
Idea is good but makes game veeery laggy by throwing doodads around, levels are supposed to be funny, are a little but cause alot of lag and its nearly the same thing as wintermaul wars but you cant send units.

my favorite map is hell vs heaven final. why? because it has a good selection of heros and also is vere interestin in that the game is constantly changeing and people are getting new heros. downside is that there is a possibillity to cheat if you get red or green.

worst map is porn maze it is a verry boring game in wich you almost do nothing and if you die it takes ages to come back if you come back at all.

the problem with dota is that every hero has atleast 3 spells directly copied from the standard game

Best/Worst Mauls

Best: Wintermaul
Why: Its the baby of all TD's (I think..) without it, all maps on battle.net could be only Dota.. Original, clever and cool it kept us satisfied for about 2 years now.

Worst: Any Cheap Copy of Wintermaul
Why: Its the same thing, only worse towers, creators use versions where only Red, Blue and Teal have spawn points, Bigger so harder to maze! (I think)
Copys: Simpson Maul, Family Guy Maul and many more.. It just pisses me off :banghead: Not even sure if they give credit to Duke-Wintermaul

Dota has only one map, the standard 3 sided battle, Eota has a large variety of battles maps and also alot of heroes. Even if dota came first, it only saw one map, Eota now see's about 8 maps i think..

Best map: Uther Party

I am so amazed that this complicated game is virtually bug-free. I am never bored at it's large variety of mini-games.

Worst map: Life of a Peasant (the 30 minutes spent ones and the unbalanced ones)

I am fed up with all of these Life of a Peasants that the only change is characters, like LOAP Mario. I am also fed up with unbalanced games where there is one player that controls and can do what he wants and no one can do anything about it (even police as most of these super-villians are spell immune and cannot be arrested). I also found something in one of the maps of Loap Reborn, where Blue has 100,000 gold.

Best: Island Troll Tribes: lol, i love this rpg its fun, original, different types of things etc etc etc, plus the battling part

Worst: LOAP (life of a peasent)

what's the point to this one, lol, there is nothing but doing stuff you would sometimes normally do, STUPID! YOU CAN GO OUTSIDE AND ACTUALLY DO SOME OF THOSE THINGS! okay spaz over

If we're talking allstars, allstars was a rip of the one on RoC.

My nominations: Best Aos- hmm Age of myths I tried recently and I was very impressed. Probably doesn't deserve best, but best one I have tried recently. Also I would nominate TfG which was made by the original maker of Dota. The only problem with it is it is insanely long loading time.

Worst Aos: I would have said Allstars a few weeks ago but having tried it recently I have found it has improved a fair bit so it wouldn't be fair to nominate that. Instead, one I tried recently. Loads of downloads, but it was just a run of the mill AoS with about 90 towers. Forgotten the name but wasn't that impressed, though it did have one or two nice ideas.

Oh and worst map ever on battle.net is footman frenzy. Such a simple map with a painful lack of real gameplay.

Lost Temple (Yes, the melee map)
Why:
It's fun gameplay, balanced creep levels with lots of options, nice size, it's just perfect at 2v2
Worst mapunno, a lot of maps sucks

if you think footman frenzy has no real gameplay, then you clearly dont play foots as good as you could...maybe this is b/c I play the LoTR-Style games, but foots involves lots of micro of units, and decisions on how to spend money...4.2 AR is amazing, b/c no lame hero picking

best made map: Genesis of Empires I, War of the Third Age, Eota
most fun: Genesis of Empires I, footman frenzy 4.2 AR, Eota, Ringwars

worst: Loap, all the imbalanced 30min shit maps out there...theres too many to decide
Dota aint worst, its not terribly made, and its popular-its just very annoying, esp the people who think its the best, when its just average compared to many maps out there...

Or I could just think its uninspired, lacking and crap? The vast majority of maps involve microing of units and decisions how to spend your money. Footman Frenzy has been done in a number of footman maps,maybe you never experienced RoC and the 10000 clones. Footman Frenzy is no different from them apart from the fact it at least has some concept of balance.

Yes...ok you could pick a wealth of random rubbish maps around that noone plays that would be even worse. But I think the general idea is when a worst is picked in this way that you don't nominate some_obscure_map_that_noone_has_heard_of but a map which could be mildly to highly popular that you just don't like and which you would nominate as worst map, hence people's nominates of Dota when it really isn't the worst map around by definition. You see what I'm saying?

your lucky-every time I search through maps I always see them...now I'll admit, I havent played some of them, but Ive played Loap, and Loap death and god, and the others sound so insanely ripped off I'm 99% sure that they arent good...
