Check amount of used memory?

I was downloading a file today and my computer said that there is not enough free space. I think this must be impossible, because i dont have THAT much stuff on my computer. Is there anyway to check the amount of memory used up?

Go to mycomputer, right click what ever drive your main drive normally called your c-drive, and click on properties, click on general tab and it should be there

Maybe its on the wrong Drive/Partition. Once this happenened to me when I was trying to move a file on to my (80gbyte) iPod. I still had 60 Gbyte free. I just changed the directory and it worked.
