Crazy storms...only at night...

This summer, where I live has had some truly crazy weather, mainly crazy storms (tree's branches snapped off, lightning more then every second, hail, etc.), but it seems that it only really storms at night. There might be a little thunderstorm during the day, but it will only last a few minutes.

My question, do you notice storms being bigger during the night or the day?

I know here in NC during the summer on the hottest days in rains alot at night/evening. Because I think its so hot that the clouds suck up all the water really fast during the day, and then poor it down at night.

Well I think more storms happen at night but I barely notice because I'm fast asleep.

Here in Stockholm Sweden it has been a very bad summer, lots of bad weather and rain and very little sun.
