anyone know how to declare custom items so that the hotkeys can be changed, when you press ctrl+D in the object editor a code comes up, is this what is used?

That's the rawcode of the item, which has nothing to do with hotkey.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to alter item hotkeys (which sucks, since I don't have a Numpad )

You can change item hotkeys by altering the "Text - Hotkey" field in the object editor.

The map I want to change is protected & commonly played on bnet, & I also want to change hotkeys for standard ladder game items.

What I mean by item hotkeys is buying them from the shop not using active items
