Event-Unit takes damage but only by an attack

is there a way to tell if the unit was damaged by a normal attack and not a spell of some sort? cuz that would suck if you can't :/

there is a jass template that does the for you and could work in GUI

That detect when a unit takes damage and if attacked. believe me i use it see the demos he made

The best way is to do all other damage, but normal attacks, with triggers.

There is some Jass damage detection systems out there that make it possible to easily tell difference between triggered damage and attacks like this.

Maybe have a trigger like this

unit takes damage
And-
damage source current order = attack/smart
damage source = "your unit" or triggering unit = "your unit"
and then what ever you want to happen

A simple but possibly incompatible way is to give each unit an orb effect like slow poison, which places a buff on attack. Then, in a damage-detection trigger, check if the unit has that buff and remove it in the actions; that way, the unit will only have that buff when it receives damage from an attack.

Of course, this interferes with allowing the units to have any other orb effects...

Correct me if I'm COMPLETELY misunderstanding what you want to do, but can't this be achieved with A Unit Is Attacked? Or are you trying to use triggers relating to Damage Taken?
