I met a hacker today!

Well, b.net and this thread is haunted by stupid kids that have to spam... When I checked last it had 2-3 pages of not-spam '[x] signed'

As long as it wasn't a ladder match blizard wont care and wont do anything about it. If his name gets banned he can just make another but unless they are online at the same time he is there is no way for them to get his cdkey, plus there is the option he is at a internet caffe then he wont care, I have also heard a lot of people throw around the words ip ban and I have used it on some dumber people my self.

So to put this a simple way.

1:They wont ban unless it is a ladder match.
2:Even if he does get a life time ban he can write blizzard and have it removed.
3:He needs to be on at the same time as the b-net people for them to get his cd key.
4:It might not even be his Cd key or his PC.
5:IP bans don't work, all you need to do to change your ip is to reset your modem (unplug it then plug it back in)

He clearly used maphack, he followed your every move, he charged against your hero when you moved towards he's base even though he couldn't see you and he knew you build watch towers when there was a black mask over your base... Hope he gets banned.

2)No he can't. He broke the terms of use. They can do whatever to him.
3)No he doesn't. They can just ban his CD-Key from bnet.
4)That's a valid problem, but it has to be a working CD-Key that is store bought.
5)IP bans may not work, but it's a lot of hassle, and they can just ban his CD-key.

You dont get it, it is real easy to get a cd key unbanned even if he did break the terms of use, I have seen it done many times. Also how are they going to know his cdkey cause they can't tell from a simple replay cause it is not stored in it. It is true that the cd key is checked when he logs in but that is useless if he is able to use defrent computers. Also Cd keys are easy to get, I know of at least 10 sites (Not to be named) I can grab key generaters from (I do own my own copy, actualy I own 2 copys, I loaned one to a friend and he never gave it back so I just got another one lol). So a ban is useless.

PS He hacked and you still kicked his Axx so even with hacks he was nothing to you, personaly I think that is a bigger insult to him then getting his cd key banned. So what is the big deal, get over it cause there are a lot of hackers out there, and even if you spent your life trying to get them all banned there will still be more.

I think you did the right thing, w/e. However, I don't think everyone else thinks so, or they don't think that this is such a big offense.

A game is something that people have fun with, and if someone chooses to disrespect someone else by cheating to win and not play, then they have already lost and can't understand the fundamentals of a game and deserve to play, because they are not playing, but winning. It's SO much better to lose an excellent game, that win a crap one. I think there should be stricter action taken with this hacker. Rise up and fight for our Warcraft!

(I know I've been accused of MHing (especially in Island defense), so obviously some people do care. And no, I don't map-hack, I'm just smart enough to guess where they run )

The thing about key generators is that they provide CD keys that are supposed to work, and they may get you through installation, but most companies know which cd keys were sold and if you got a cd key from a keygen, it wont work for battle.net because it won't be registered as valid. Normally I wouldn't care about maphackers, but I'm trying to maintain a 1:1 win/loss ratio.

either way i have watched the replay and you are right there is no possible way he could have done all that stuffwithout maphacking. i have used maphack and i know the didfference with it and dont get me wrong i dont use it anymore its too cheap the most i use is my namespoofer.

I've played with lots and lots of people who map hack, none of them have ever been banned. The thing is, blizz don't really care that much.

Chances are that Blizzard won't care.

Unless it was something serious, like a drop hack or something similar to SC's morph hack.

But they probably won't listen to your emails anyway.

As far as I saw in replay is this:

Guy you call a hacker: plays mass footman strategy [rush whatever you call it] and buys hero from tavern. Its obvious he want's to harras you a little.

In replay I can't see MH becouse it doesn't show up on screen when he plays like Shadow Frenches hack. Belive me I know all about it becouse my friends use it and I always laugh when they get banned peramently so they need to buy game again.

Guy you call a hacker: says you are a "nub" [witch make him a noob] "who build watch towers"

This could be lucky guessing.

Guy you call a hacker: Attacks you widouth scout.

Its suspitious.

Guy you call a hacker: Dictates what you do.

Obvious hack.

Hack that isn't detectable on replay can be:

1. Hack that displays all in game but makes something like a layer over game so it can't be on replay.

2. Hacks into memory and shows what are you building as simple text in other window.

3. Hacks into memory and shows your resources, upgrade tech and what have you explored so far. Note that this can help him were you are in the begining of the game [your base and your army]

Also I watched replay for about 3/4 and my war3.exe went boom. I got an error so I didn't watched whoule replay.

Well, I presented blizzard with an overwhelming amount of evidence and the guy had a disconnection hack as well as a maphack.
That's why everyone's wc3 crashed at the end of the replay. I was disconnected after he got bored of being owned.

All I have to say about map hackers are, they are complete noobs that suck at the game so they have to cheat to win, a real player can win without cheats. i heard that most maphackers dont get banned but after approx. 5 mins after your ladder game you cant play ladder at all.

Unless you were playing in ladder or tournament...who cares? There will always be hacks and people will always use them, so just let them be. Eventually they just get bored and quit. At least you only have to deal with it for one game at a time.

Besides, if Blizzard did do something about this guy, he'd just come back if he wanted. There's really no point to wasting your time.

On an unrelated note...I miss Diablo 2. I'm just reminded of it because of this talk of maphacks. I ran so many friends through all the acts, I would have died without a maphack.
