Icons Still green have tried everything

alright guys as you dont know ive been working on Advanced Warcraft...which is basically supposed to be Warcraft 3.5 and ive put in a few custom icons...i made a folder called Replaceable Textures\Command Buttons\ in my warcraft 3 folder put all the icons in there and named them DISBTNXXX.tga and modified the path in the importer to that folder

but still when i pause the game or when the icons still need something in the tech tree like a keep they turn into the green squares

does anyone have any solution on how i can fix this? =/ or am i just missing something very simple

they work just fine after they have the tech item they need

That's as easy as it is.

Firstly, you dont rename the actual icon name. You merely change the DIS versions fore-name.
Eg.
Imported *****/BTNShadowStrike.tga
Imported *****/DISBTNShadowStrike.tga (i dont know the exact names, havent done this in a while)
Changed the DIS beginning to 'Replaceable Textures\Command ButtonsDisabled\'
Imported *****/BTNShadowStrike.tga
Replaceable Textures\Command ButtonsDisabled\DISBTNShadowStrike.tga

The method I used, if I remember correctly. I did not change the original icon at all.
And that did not have a Green icon.
However the DIS version, when its on cooldown or whatever, goes green unless the path is changed.
Do not change the name of the file (eg, Shadow Strike to Shadow Blast or whatever).
Also, I'm not entirely sure it's .tga format. Check a tutorial.
And i recall that there are some skinned icons or something, eg if it over-writes an original icon. Then I think you use the original path.

Test that, tell me what's wrong. And post a screenshot if it doesnt work. Ty

well...still doesnt work =/ as you can see it works after the research is full filled but otherwise its green =/

dunno about the bit thing but i think its fine...maybe...

i changed the import path and set it correctly in the units icon...

anyone got anything else? =/ thanks for replys :D

do you propperly reference the imported buttons on the object editor? you cant reference nothing

Agreed. In your pic it says the custom path is "ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\war3mapimportedBTN...."
It needs to be, "ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\BTN...."

Alright i changed it to that and it has the same problem D:

rarrwrwr...this is so fustrating XD

Thanks for all the help...anyone got any other solutions? im probably missing something very simple ><

what do you mean =/

all 3 of the current icons are named DISBTNxxx.tga

then i import them and set the paths n stuff

it works after the tech is fufilled but until then its green =/

am i supposed to have 2 separate icons? cuz idk how that would work

Disabled icons should be dark. Or are those the icons you plan to use?

Agreed, those are not disabled icons. they are the normal ones.
You need disabled counterparts for these icons.
Firstly you need to rename your prefix. eg. DISBTNfirstaid should become BTNfirstaid.
Next you need a disabled icon counterpart. If you have photoshop you can darken the images, remove the boarder slightly and desaturate a bit. then save it as 24bit tga. These are the icons that should be labled DISBTN...

I saved you the trouble.
For those with the BTN prefix, replace "war3mapImported" with "ReplaceableTextures/CommandButtons".
For those with the DISBTN prefix, replace "war3mapImported" with "ReplaceableTextures/CommandButtonsDisabled".

Alright...Used Kaerfs icons and the problem persists...works after its reaserched but otherwise its a green square...

Is there like a second Icon option in the world edit for objects?there must be something so simple that im missing...

But ya...why is this so hard XD screw it im just gunna use icons in te game already or something...

okay some question to help you :

1. what you're using the icons for? spells? upgrades? units?
2. depending on how you answered question 1 . When does it appear as a green square? (example : just when you wanna learn a spell)
3. does it appear everytime as a green square in the said moment or does it just happen sometimes?

#1 for spells buildies units and abilities

#2. only when the tech requirements arent met and i think when the game is paused

3. Yes everytime until the tech tree is filled
