Hey guys,

I've got the Audacity program that was suggested to me a long long time ago, and I've been using it quite frequently to record myself and others are me for a short skit I'm working on.

Now here's the problem: I need the files to be smaller, and I've heard I can reduce the quality of the sounds slightly to make them smaller, but I have no clue as to how to do it.

I'm sure not many of you have Audacity, but if you do it would be a great help, and I wouldn't hesitate to +rep you on the spot!

Much Appreciation as usual guys,

Beetlebomb!

The lower the bit-size, the lower the space the file will take up. I normally put my around 28k I believe.

However, there aren't many other ways to limit a file besides cutting silence and bit-size.

There is a very good program called "Ease Audio Converter".

With that program you can convert between many formats, among them mp3. I usually use 22050 hz, mono, 40kbit/s. With that compression a 1 minute long mp3 is about 280-300 kilobytes big with barely any audible quality loss.

You can of course compress more but then you will hear distinct quality loss.
