Making high terrain unwalkable

I've been working on this RPG for a while, and I've been fooling around with terrain ideas. I think I've made it look pretty good so far, but there's only one problem. Instead of actual cliffs, I used the raise tool and smoothed the sides so it doesn't look so jagged. But now units can easily walk up the "cliffs".

I've tried placing pathing blockers on the base of the cliffs, but when I got about half done I got that "Too many destructibles" message. I'm using NewGen, so it still lets me place them, but the map is so big I'm afraid the game might lag.

What I'm asking is, is there a way to make terrain that is too high unwalkable?

you can set the pathing map of the pathing-blockers yourself in the object editor. Choose some bigger path, mabye that helps^^
