Ahhhhh, yes the castle fight, the map that inspired me to start with the editor in the first place.What happend to it it is dead.The person who made it said that there isn't going to be another castle fight.

This doesn't look to dead. And on the European b.net server caste fight is still played often enough, to find/host a game at any time of the day

Yeah, it is common to find a game of Castle Fight on Lordaeron (Europe Server). I play it quite often. That's where I get the newest versions from because I always forget to check the site.

Look there is no way to protect a map... If you now how to unprotect it(with a couple of Russian tools) but it is good that you protect it cuz some people don't know how to unprotected. I don't know if my advise was useful and all but i want you to know

I don't like protecting your map either. It is just lame and really who cares if someone steals it, sometimes stolen maps become better than the original. (Assuming the stealer can make maps and don't just add a trigger giving 9999999 gold to player 1.) But I think MurderMode proves a good point.

To get on topic, no it hasn't happened to me before since I haven't released so much maps yet and they have been protected this far. (Yes I know I said I don't like it but my friend who helped me with them insisted on protecting them.) Though my Robot Wars map is soon finished and it won't be protected.

If someone steals your map he's probably just gonna showoff for his RL-friends that he made a great map. But the point is, do you earn something on that yourself? Do you get a feeling of accomplishment when you're done?

Does it feel that good to snatch a map and put your name on it?

If you don't protect your map and people like the content of course they are going to use it. It's like giving a stranger the key to your house, you don't do it unless you're fine with the idea of them robbing you blind. Ofcourse, giving them the keys doesn't mean they will rob you, but when you give someone full access there's always the chance.

DotA wasn't even made by icefrog. He has taken it from someone else who had did it first, yet he isn't at fault since it was an open source.

Dota was created by Guinsoo,which you guys know the item: Guinsoo sychte of vyse...Also,Eul helped Guinsoo to create Dota in first place..

So they got bored,and Icefrog with 20 people take care of that map...(hell,20 people )

Eul created DotA, released it as open source.
Guinsoo developed DotA Allstars, then disappeared, and development passed on to Icefrog.

It dosen't realy matter who created cause blizzard owns it lol. I see a lot of people throwing around My map (even my self lol) But in reality blizzard owns all the the maps, rather they made them or not.

If someone writes a program for Windows, does that mean Microsoft owns it?

I think Blizzard implies they have nothing to do with the maps by stating that they do not directly support the world editor.

Your useing blizzards world editor and there file type and so on, if you think you own your map then try to sell it to some one and see just how long it takes you to get sued.

Part of the user agreement is that content created with the world editor is owned by blizzard. I have a hard time believing it would stand up in court, and if it did, then all you need to do is make an illegal map (eg child porn) then get them charged :nuts:. They can't have it both ways.

Blizzard is not responsible for user created content.

By the way, that is an illogical statement. Windows is an operating system, which only reads data, which means they cannot take ownership of a program made specifically for it.

I want to help out with the map(at least i can test it)On the current version I didn't get why the hell do heroes have 8 hp and 50 dmg?And uh...for how many people is this map?

Lost of donations? you mean LOTS of donations.But one thing i don't get- why do the take so much time to make so little changes? Any ideas?
