Max Payne 2 wont start

When i click on the max payne 2 icon nothing at all happens. It doesnt say or show why it doesnt want to start. The game is a bought CD and i play it on Vista. My hardware is more than good enough to handle the game so its not that. I personally think its just Vista that feels like fucking up the game back and forth and up and down because ive played this on my laptop which runs on Xp and has also worse hardware and it worked fine there.
Edit: After i posted this i tried for the hundredth time to start the game and all the sudden an unnamed window poped up and said: "Unable to authenticate original disc within time limit." I dont know what it means or what to do.
Help!
