Depends on the bike. A new 125cc bike could cost few thousand euro, so in dollars that would be pretty much the same.
It's usually more expensive, as the engine gets bigger.
Used bikes are a good start if you're looking for a cheap starting motorcycle.

Nobody says nothing about new bike. It's even a waste of money to buy a new bike for the very beginner, first rain or wet ground and he will say hello to the surface. Depends on how you ride it, where you ride it (altitudes effect bikes a lot more than cars), how you take care of it, ect.

I never came off my Er-6n or B-king. I did on YBR long time ago. I'd kill myself if I'd ever end up on the ground with my B-King Cost me too much money to even scratch it
