Socrates told me:
"A great man sees
The world as his own."

But Montaigne is itching me:
"No boy, no! You gotta
Write ya see?"

Faulkner told me to
Read, read read! But
Naked Lunch warned me to breathe.

Shakespeare, Shelley, Keats are
The dead poets, their tongues magnetic;
They are influencing me.

Wow, this was interesting I don't know if it was meant to be comedic, but I definitely got a laugh out of all the names.

It does make you wonder. If they were alive today, how would they view what we call literature? Sure, we think there's some great peices of art out there, but back in the day, that's where it was. So how would they preceive what we do now?

Kinda makes me wonder how Poe would look at my work

He would probably be very, very critical. Poe was just like that. I think it has to do with the envious nature of writers. What I think would be interesting would be Shakespeare. The poor and the wealthy went to see him. I wonder what other people would see in him. I could easily imagine myself being part of the naysayers.

I'm sure Christians would condemn him for being pagan. ^_^
