I have seen a few posts very similar to what I have.
At the moment, I have tried the refresh rate fix, and it does nothing.
What makes no since to me is that prior to the 1.6 patch, it worked fine.
This is a perfectly legal store bought copy from EB games (new, not used).
But once I installed the 1.6 patch, it goes to the intro screen where it says Battlefield 1942, then it goes black, and then I get a windows exception message box then it goes to the desktop. It never gets to the point that you see EA games.
I have reinstalled it from scratch as well, to no avail.
I am on an hp pavilion with a geforce nvidia 6650 go card.
I know it isn't the best, but I can play halflife 2 without a problem.
ANd it worked fine with bf1942 prior to the 1.6 patch. And the 1.61 patch doesn't fix it either.
Any ideas
