A co-worker of mine used Norton's Ghost to produce a complete image of the hard drive onto a disc.
When the backup is checked on the original system, all of the files are on the disc. But, when the disc is moved to the second machine, he is prompted to insert a second disc before the restore is completed.
About the only thing he can think of is that the CD-DVD drive is different between the machines. Other than that, the specs are apparently identical.
Both systems run Windows XP.
