Okay, simple question about replacing custom value.
Would adding a dummy spell and then setting its level to X be the same as setting a units custom value? What side effects would happen if I used this walkaround?

First, it's most likely slower.

Second, for every number you need to add another spell level. A good maximum storable integer is 8191. Now you have an insane loading time when testing your map.

Well, I was thinking of recycling, for example after 20 casts, the dummy ability would go back to one.

Just use unit user data. Or a unit indexing system. Using an ability is really a bad idea.
