Replace unit

How do you replace a units model without affecting the buffs on them or casted magics like drain life. I know hex/polymorph works, but they won't be able to attack or anything.

Metemorphosis or something or maybye...

Event: A unit casts an ability
condition: Ability being cast equal to (your spell lets say wind walk)
Action: replace casting unit with (your unit) using the old units life blahblah
          Set last created (or a variable if you set the unit it) level to level of casting unit and so on
