What causes desyncs?

I've been playing a new Parasite map, Parasite Resurrection, on my GHost One bot, and the map desyncs atleast once every ten games. I have been playing mostly via LAN, if that means anything. I'm just wondering what could be causing a desync that spilts the game in half. I read somewhere that there are some Jass functions that can cause it. And I know the map maker.

AFAIK, GetLocalPlayer() returns the player running the script, and can be used to differentiate players and only have a select few run something. If something is done by only some of the players that will interact with something later, it can cause a desync.

Once every ten games on only your bot sounds like a server split, not a desync. You can't cause a server split with triggers.

Leaks don't cause desyncs.

If your bot tells you
"Game have desynch + date & time" then it desynched.

If players are just split into two groups which both get in a separated game, then thats a server split. (Which happens often with Ghost one)

I think you can if you use get local player, then try and change something just for him.

That's a desync, not a server split.

It isn't always split in half, I've lost just one person before. I'll note the times I've seen it happen at and try to see what triggers he has causing it. Oh, here's another major problem on my part, when opening the beta version of this release, I get and error: Trigger function does not exist in database: GetHandleIdBJ. The hell is that?

If you use GetLocalPlayer and created a footman for only 6 players out of 12, wouldn't that cause something like a server split?

No, just desynch.

It would desynch whenever a player would see the footman which wasn't created for him in his screen. (I think)
