What does the forum count as characters?

Does it count spaces? does it count the BBcode for stuff like THIS which would be 11 characters including the brackets and the slash.

I think that the characters are just the amount of characters which you have to type whilst posting a message, so it would include spaces and BBCode.

Tags themselves aren't counted. So [ b ]hi[ / b ] (ignore the spaces) would be 2 characters

I mean, when you actually type it in here, you get an empty boldfaced space, which counts as 1 boldfaced, nullified character.
