Windows Live Background Change

So, today when I tried to log on with my fine working 8.5 version, a pop-up told me I HAVE to update before continuing.. So I gave in and downloaded this horrible @&#!ing teenager tool 9.0.

It sucks balls, yes... But at least I could use it, if it didn't have BRIGHT WHITE EYE-RAPING BACKGROUND EVERYWHERE.

There is the option to change "theme", where "theme" means a stripe at the top of the window... JESUS I can't look at it for more than 2 minutes straight!
What the hell can I do? Google didn't tell me nothing, except there are many more struggling with this damn thing.
Is there a file in the windows live folder I could edit? This is UNBEARABLE.

use firefox and get the stylish add-on, then find a darker style for the site

Btw I fixed the problem, I uninstalled that shit, put the 8.5 back up, and with a little help I hacked the executable file to think it's a newer version. Works 100%. My eyes love it.
